World’s First Floating Outdoor Surf Pool
2018, the year of innovation, where dreams become reality and apparently when floating outdoor surf pools will become a thing. A German company specializing in design and building wake park features announced the creation of the world’s first floating outdoor surf pool.
Know anybody who has a spare lake or river at hand? If you answered yes to this question then this company has the product for you my bru. The Unit Surf Pool produces a 4 – 5 foot wave and comes in five different width options: 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16+ meters. By capitalizing on the natural motion of the “ocean” it is able to brew up some shoulder high rollers.
The surf pool pumps the fresh or salted water into the structure, from there gravity takes over driving the water down a ramp into an area with still or slow-moving water. Finally, and thanks to the hydraulic jump phenomenon, a stationary wave is born. The Unit Surf Pool is open to surfboards, bodyboards, stand-up paddleboards, and kayaks.
After being ordered, the entire wave pool fits in a standard shipping container and can be delivered anywhere in the world. Once the client receives the product, it takes two weeks to assemble and get it fully functional.
“We believe it’s a revolution for landlocked surfers. The Unit Surf Pool needs no chemical water treatments, and when in operation processes 15,000 liters per second using less than 340 kW per hour.”
